Challenging

The Mount Kailash Tour is a sacred pilgrimage that takes you to the holiest of all holy places on Earth. It’s especially significant for Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, and the Bon sect.

Mount Kailash holds immense spiritual significance across several major religions. Here are some key points:

Hinduism: Kailash is traditionally recognized as the abode of Lord Shiva, where he resides with his consort, goddess Parvati, and their children, Ganesha and Kartikeya. Hindus believe Kailash to be the Mount Meru, considered a stairway to Svarga (heaven).

Buddhism: For Buddhists, Kailash is the navel of the universe. It’s a place for meditation and connecting the physical and spiritual worlds.

Jainism: Kailash is significant because it’s where their first leader attained enlightenment.

Bon Religion: Adherents of Bon consider Kailash the abode of the sky goddess Sipaimen.

Geographical Importance: Kailash is the source of four major rivers: Indus, Sutlej, Brahmaputra, and Karnali.

In essence, Mount Kailash is a sacred pilgrimage site, attracting devotees from India, China, Nepal, and beyond. Its spiritual aura and breathtaking natural beauty make it a haven for both pilgrims and adventurous trekkers.

  • China Visa Processing in Kathmandu: When entering Tibet from Kathmandu, process your China visa in Kathmandu. Do not apply in your home country in advance. If you previously had a long-term valid Chinese visa, it will be replaced with a 30-day valid group tourist visa when applying in Kathmandu. Allocate at least 3 days in Kathmandu to process your Group Visa with your original passport.
  • Currency:
Only Chinese Yuan is accepted in Tibet. Exchange it with US dollars locally or withdraw cash from ATMs if needed.
  • Health Considerations:
Maintain good health before entering Tibet and avoid catching a cold.
People with serious hypertension, heart disease, asthma, pregnant women, etc., are not  recommended to travel to Tibet.
If worried about altitude sickness, consider taking a moderate amount of Rhodiola oral liquid or capsules before entering.
  • Tibet Travel Permit:
Both the airport and train station will check the Tibet Travel Permit. Keep this official document safe and avoid writing or drawing on it.
Confirm that you have received the Tibet Travel Permit and verify your personal information before traveling to Tibet.
During the Tibet tour, travel with the group throughout the journey and avoid leaving group activities at will.
  • Altitude Tips:
Drink plenty of water, engage in slow-paced activities, and consume fruits and vitamin supplements when traveling at high altitudes.
Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol if you are new to high altitudes.
  • Itinerary:
The most classic and popular tour itinerary is a 10-day Lhasa to Mount Kailash Tour. It includes acclimation in Lhasa, visits to Saga, Manasarovar Lake, and Darchen (the starting point for the Mt. Kailash kora).
  • Cost and Booking:
Advance booking is highly recommended to secure permits and accommodations.
  • Physical Fitness:
Good fitness is vital for the challenging trek around Mount Kailash. Prepare physically before embarking on the journey. Pay attention to high altitude sickness during the trek.
