Challenging

The Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek offers a captivating journey through remote trails, showcasing majestic peaks like Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. It also provides a glimpse into the unique lifestyle and culture of the local inhabitants.

The Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek in the Himalayas is a captivating journey along one of the best off-the-beaten tracks, celebrating the majesty of Dhaulagiri (8,167 m). Marvel at the grandeur of peaks like Annapurna (8,091 m), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Mt. Nilgiri (7,061 m), Mt. Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), Lamjung Himal (6,983 m), Gustung South (6,465 m), Tukuche Peak (6,837 m), Mt. Gurja (7,193 m), and Manapathi (6,380 m). The local lifestyle and unique culture are truly stunning.

Dhaulagiri Circuit Trekking is a bold and challenging adventure, requiring a daring spirit to tackle its demands. This trek takes you through breathtaking glaciers and snow-clad passes to the Dhaulagiri Base Camp, located northwest of Pokhara, also known as the Dhaulagiri Round Trek.

This less crowded trek offers unique natural and cultural diversity, making it a dream destination surrounded by snow-capped mountains. You will cross two major challenging passes: Dhampus (5,200 m) and French Pass (5,360 m).

The Dhaulagiri Circuit is not just about mountain passes and snow-clad peaks; it is also rich in flora and fauna. The journey passes through remote villages, starting from Beni, leading to dense forests, alpine meadows, and stunning views of Mt. Dhaulagiri.

You will also traverse the largest conservation area in Nepal, the Annapurna Conservation Area, home to many endangered species. Experience untouched nature and the pure elegance of mountain landscapes, combining lush alpine vegetation, rugged rock outcrops, and pristine ice slopes.

The trek to Dhaulagiri reveals green hillsides and typical villages, where you will encounter the Magar and Thakali cultures. Visit thriving small villages and monasteries, and experience the scale and grandeur of the high plateau and its solitude. You will be blessed with diverse local traditions and culture.

Majestic mountains, waterfalls, and culturally rich Tibetan villages make this trek worthwhile. Planned for around 18 days, the Dhaulagiri Circuit trek itinerary allows ample time for acclimatization and exploration, with flexibility to adjust the itinerary as needed. The best times for this trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November).

The Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek is an old trail, rarely traveled due to its remoteness and complexity. It requires previous high-altitude trekking experience and strong inner resolve. Physical strength alone is not enough; inner strength is crucial.

The trek ranges from 900 m to 5,360 m. After the French Pass, the landscape becomes very rough, with trails changing yearly due to glacier melting. High-altitude trekking on rocky trails can be strenuous.

While passing other trekkers or cattle on the trail, always be cautious and stay in a safe spot. Walking up and down with a backpack at high passes is challenging. After Dhaulagiri Base Camp, the trail leads to a rocky glacier and takes you to Hidden Valley via French Pass. The path from Hidden Valley requires caution.
